Statement on the occasion of the World Day of Peace

Statement by His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain on the occasion of World Day of Peace – 21 September 2017

His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, stated that the success of international efforts meant to establish stability and world peace require a collective will and action that set forth decisive solutions to the causes of wars and conflicts affecting many parts of the world.

He stressed that the international community’s efforts should be focused on building a world in which its nations and peoples live in security and peace that would enhance their ability to accomplish comprehensive development and a more prosperous life for humankind.

He said that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, is keen to support all joint efforts aimed at achieving world peace, whether by implementing its international commitments in this field or through welcoming all initiatives aimed at establishing peace and stability at the international level.

In a message to the world on the occasion of the International Peace Day, which is observed on Thursday, 21 September 2017 and devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples, under the theme “Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All”, His Royal Highness the Prime Minister affirmed that the essence of human coexistence is pluralism and diversity. And that all religions emphasize the value of peace and encourage the spread of love in a framework that preserves the dignity of all.

“The tragedies witnessed by some parts of the world led to a state of instability, coupled with tragic phenomena that undermine human civilization, especially the issue of refugees and migrants. Unless these phenomena are dealt with thoroughly, the future of humanity will be in danger on all levels” HRH said and warned against laxity in confronting real causes of international conflicts. This would lead to their expansion to even those nations made to believe that they are immune to such conflicts”.

He praised the focus of this year’s International Day of Peace on the issue of migrants and refugees, which he said has become “a phenomenon that has been exacerbated by the conflicts and tensions in some regions of the world that have forced a large section of people to abandon their areas in search of a safe haven”.

His Royal Highness called for more support for international organizations and civil society institutions working in refugee issues to enable them to carry out their noble humanitarian mission in terms of preserving the life and dignity of this group of people suffering from the harshness of displacement and alienation.

He also said that the Kingdom of Bahrain is taking all necessary measures to enhance world peace and to cooperate with brotherly and friendly nations in order to provide a comprehensive peace out of belief in peace as an imperative and an important factor in the march of nations and peoples on the road to sustainable development.

The Kingdom of Bahrain is a peace loving country, setting to the world a model of love and brotherhood among all its people based on a long history of co-existence, which has contributed to the consolidation of successive generations who have lived on this land and built a civilization with all elements of development and progress.

He stressed that the scourge of terrorism is a real challenge to the realization of world peace and that eliminating it requires dealing with it not only on the security level, but through intellectual reviews and refutation of false ideas instilled by some extremist groups in the minds of young people.

The region has been living for years in a cycle of violence and wars that have left so many lives and properties harmed, and it is time for the world to shoulder its humanitarian responsibility to spare future generations from more tragedies and establish the values of peace and cooperation for a better life for peoples, he said.

He urged for greater attention to economic development and improvement of living and social conditions of the most needy people so that peace and justice can prevail, out of belief in the common human destiny and importance of peace as a basis for development and prosperity.

In concluding his message, His Royal Highness the Prime Minister commended the efforts exerted by the United Nations and its specialized agencies and all other organizations working for peace to promote international cooperation. He also welcomed their endeavours aimed at implanting peace and stability for humankind.

He called upon the international community to back and build on those efforts to achieve a lasting peace that will achieve people’s aspirations for security and stability.

“Bahraini society is based on cooperation and compassion among its citizens and residents, as well as their freedom, equality, security, tranquillity, social solidarity and equal opportunities. These are the pillars of society guaranteed the the State.”

H.R.H. Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister, Kingdom of Bahrain

The Best of Sustainable Tourism with UNESCO Club Vienna

Sustainable Tourism for Development
UNESCO Club Vienna in partnership with the
Family Abensberg und Traun
Exhibition “The Power of Nature”, 24 June to 23 July 2017
http://www.atelier-hoerler.com/

St John the Baptist Chapel, Petronell Carnuntum in collaboration with Landgasthaus-Hotel Marc Aurel, the Winegrowers Association of Petronell and Maria Petrak Promotions

Included on the Celebrations Map and Calendar for the 2017 IYSTD Report of the International Year to the United Nations General Assembly.

The Roman Empire, in its territorial extent, was one of the greatest empires the world has known. Substantial remains survive (clockwise from the west) in the UK, The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Israel, Iraq, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco. Starting on the western coast of northern Britain, the frontier in Europe then ran along the rivers Rhine and Danube, looping round the Carpathian Mountains to the Black Sea. The eastern frontier, stretching from the Black Sea to the Red Sea and running through mountains, great river valleys and the desert. To the south, Rome’s protective cordon embraced Egypt and then ran along the northern edge of the Sahara Desert to the Atlantic shore in Morocco.

Two of the most important transnational communications routes of the Roman Empire in Europe were the transnational West-East running Limes road and the North-South leading Amber route. The Amber route crossed the Danube in the Carnuntum region and acted as one of the most important springboards for diplomatic and political interventions as well as for people, culture and technology transfer between the Roman Empire and the tribal territories in the North (Barbaricum). The Frontiers of the Roman Empire, including the region of Carnuntum, is on the UNESCO World Heritage Site Tentative List (Date of Submission: 09/02/2015).

In 2014 Carnuntum received the first "European Cultural Heritage Seal" from the European Commission.  The main tourist attractions are the Archaeological Park Carnuntum and the National Park Donau-Auen. The exhibition, the Power of Nature, aims to increase awareness among all stakeholders — including tourists — of the impact of travel and tourism on society and the environment.

Abensberg und Traun (now usually written Abensperg-Traun) is the name of one of the oldest extant aristocratic families in Central Europe (in the photo above on the left). The Trauns are one of the 12 so-called "Apostle Houses", i.e. the families which had already played a historical role during the period of Babenberg rule of Austria (976 to 1246). To this day, the family owns large estates in Austria, as well as a number of castles and fortresses and present a model for creating sustainable synergies with respect to land use for agriculture and development while supporting ecologically sustainable tourism and preservation of cultural heritage in Petronell-Carnuntum. Indeed parts of the reconstructed buildings of the Archaeological Part are on their lands. The family is also a partner of the National Park Donau-Auen.

On exhibit are the chromatograms and water colours of local artist Mathilde Hoerler collated in collaboration with plant expert Karl Hillebrand, lecturer at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU), Vienna member of the Euroleague for Life Sciences university network (in the photo above).

The exhibition features photo collage panels to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the National Park Donau-Auen.  An initiative of the UNESCO Club Vienna and the Austrian Kazakh Association “Towards ASTANA 2017” World EXPO.

The list of Special Ambassadors representing the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development consists of the following dignitaries:

– Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, Prime Minister of Samoa
– Juan Manuel Santos, President of Colombia
– Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of Liberia
– Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities
– Simeon II of Bulgaria
– Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman of the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization
– Huayong Ge, CEO of UnionPay
– Michael Frenzel, President of the Federal Association of the German Tourism Industry

The venue of the exhibition is the Romanesque chapel dedicated to St John the Baptist dating back to the 12th century which is owned by the Family Abensberg und Traun and is near the entrance to the Archaeological Park Carnuntum.

The exhibition will run until 23 July 2017 in collaboration with the Marc Aurel Hotel and the Winegrowers Association of Petronell. The exhibition was opened by Zsuzsa Abu-Nagy on Harp with an introduction to the theme of Nature and Music. More photos can be found on Google album.

Some tips for sustainable tourism:

This is what every tourist can do to reduce environmental impact by being a guardian of natural resources especially forests and wetlands:

1. Respect wildlife and their natural habitats.

2. Purchase products that aren’t made using endangered plants or animals.
3. In protected areas, access only the places open to visitors.
4. Reduce your water and energy consumption whenever possible.
5. Leave only a minimum footprint and a good impression behind.

The Best of: The Connected Universe with Nassim Haramein

“Gratitude and positive thoughts build on each other, creating a positive, upward spiral. You have the power of the universe inside you and you can overcome anything in life.” says Nassim Haramein.

'The Connected Universe' team (from left to right on the photo): Malcom Carter, film director and executive film producer, Dr Lesya Anna with Nassim Haramein, award winning physicist and Resonance Science Foundation Founder/ Executive Director featured in the film.

The Connected Universe, a feature length documentary film, explores new understandings in science that reveal a bigger picture of interconnection. Narrated by the legendary Sir Patrick Stewart, directed by Malcom Carter and executive producers: Mark Sims and Lesya Anna, the film is based on Haramein’s scientific discoveries and their potential for generations to come. This is a unique, life-changing film where Haramein is sharing Einstein’s vision and ideas with an inspiration to connect us to the world of science and enable us to see the world in a new way.  When you realize that you are physically and energetically connected to the Universe, you will tap into the unlimited potentials of who you are and who you can become. Discover amazing ideas that will not only help change the world but also change your life. This film has already been released in 94 countries and 4 languages and has received standing ovations in LA, Paris, London and Mexico: http://getconnected.resonance.is

Some facts:
Release: 26 September 2016
Running Time: 98 minutes
Director: Malcom Carter, Montreal, Canada
Executive producers: Mark Sims and Lesya Anna
Cast: Patrick Stewart (narrator), featuring Nassim Haramein

The Connected Universe has been funded through Indiegogo crowdfunding platform. It is the highest crowdfunded spirituality-focused movie of all-times. The crowdfunding project has been funded since January 26, 2015 and has raised $329,248 which represents 172% more then what the film makers had hoped to raise.

The film premiered on September 26 at the Directors Guild of America after Sir Patrick Stewart, famous for his roles as Jean-Luc Picard  in Star Trek and the X-Men was confirmed as the narrator. “Patrick Stewart brings an incredible depth of experience behind some of the big questions that he asks in the film.” The Directors Guild of America in Hollywood was the perfect setting with over 600 people in attendance. The standing ovation at the film’s premiere was overwhelming.

People in today’s world want to feel more connected. In the midst of an accelerated pace of living, many of us are feeling that there is more to life than what we experience day-to-day. Through the lens of science, The Connected Universe presents Haramein’s ideas and discoveries to help us see the world differently. It inspires us toward fresh thinking about our connection to the Universe and to each other, and reveals that the world and our Universe are more connected than we ever before thought possible. When we discover all of the ways that we are physically and energetically connected to the Universe, we can never look at our world or ourselves the same way again. The film can be rented or bought directly on:  http://getconnected.resonance.is/

Scientists and philosophers have pondered the idea of interconnection between everything in the universe for centuries. The Connected Universe explores this idea using physicist, Nassim Haramein's theory of quantum physics being connected on a cosmological scale and at the same time explores how we are connected with the universe by both science and humanity.

The Connected Universe is unlike any other documentary that has come before it exploring our existence. Every aspect of the film shows how there is more than a scientific connection between everything in the universe. We as humans want to believe that we are more than just a walking pile of atoms and The Connected Universe makes us believe that we all matter and should be inspired to make a difference in the world.

The Best of World Roma Organization

President of the World Roma Organization, Mr Jovan Damjanovic, former minister and former deputy of the Parliament of Serbia in Belgrade received an Ambassador for Peace award from Mr. Peter Haider, President of Weltfriede, Universal Peace Federation of Austria during the Interfaith Harmony Week conference held at the United Nations HQs in Vienna on 27 January 2017. Video from the conference can be found here: https://www.instagram.com/p/BPx5kwXAVB9/?taken-by=mariapetrak

Universal Peace Federation is instrumental for the world to build a culture of peace and promotion of the principles of universality of human rights, mutual respect and inter- dependence of all human beings, regardless of social, economic, political, civil and cultural differences.

"We, members of the Roma nation (Roma, Sinti and Kale) are represented in almost every country in the world." said Mr Damjanovic.

"Our population consists of more than 20 million in Europe and 50 million in the whole world. Due to the fact that we have been discriminated and suffered as victims of genocide for many years, we would like to save the future generations from unnecessary suffering and mistakes. We are multicultural and peaceful nation that has never conducted any war. Depending on the countries where we live, we adapt, integrate and accept the culture and religions of the countries where we live. This is why we belong to all religions: Muslims, Catholics and Orthodox.

Based on the principles of the UN Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights we established the World Organization of Roma in 2012 in Belgrade, known as the World Roma Organization-Romanipen. Our association goal is to represent the fundamental human rights, dignity, equality between men and women, human values, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity and religion.

I personally invite you to join us to the forthcoming intercultural event "Days of Roma culture" that will be organized for the first time in Vienna this year."

In Serbo-Croatian:

Mi, pripadnici romske nacije (Romi, Sinti i Kale) zastupljeni smo skoro u svakoj zemlji sveta. U Evropi: oko 20 miliona a u celom svetu oko 50 miliona ljudi. Bas zbog toga sto smo celog zivota bili diskriminirani, patili kao zrtve genocida, zelimo da spasimo buduća pokoljenja od užasa rata i gresaka. Kao romi, mi smo multinacioalni i multikulturalni narod, miroljubiva nacija i nikada nismo ratovali.
